M. Evan Lacke – Background and Experience

Evan Lacke is a native South Carolinian, having grown up in Aiken, South Carolina.  He graduated from South Aiken High School and then attended the College of Charleston where he graduated with honors, obtaining his B.A. in English and B.S. in Business Administration.

After spending a couple years in the business world and doing a bit of roaming, Evan attended the University of South Carolina School of Law where he was a Member and Research Editor for the South Carolina Law Review.  He was also a member of  Moot Court and the National Moot Court competition team. Evan was honored to be inducted into the Order of the Wig and Robe and the Order of the Barristers.  After graduating from law school in Columbia, he attended New York University in Manhattan where he earned his LL.M. in Taxation.

Evan began his career as a lawyer in 2007 as an associate for Alston and Bird, an Am Law 100 firm in Charlotte, NC.  Though it was a very beneficial experience, he made the decision to leave the big firm/big city life and return to Charleston. In 2010, Evan established his one-man practice, Lacke Law Firm, so that he could practice law in the manner that suited him – upholding the highest standards in professionalism, ethics, and personal service.

Evan is a member of the bar in both South Carolina and North Carolina.

What Evan enjoys most about his practice is the flexibility and discretion to develop lasting relationships with clients of his choosing.  Frequent, direct communication with these clients and developing relationships with them is what he enjoys most. It is this one-on-one, no-frills approach that enables him to provide first-class legal assistance at a reasonable cost without the additional overhead and expense associated with a larger firm.

Having fallen in love with Charleston during his college years, Evan is particularly proud to be a member of the Charleston legal and business community.  He deeply appreciates all the historic and cultural benefits Charleston has to offer, not to mention the outdoor activities that come from living near the beach.

On a professional level, Evan does outreach to many Charleston organizations and individuals about the importance of sound financial planning and asset protection.  Many small businesses are among his clients and assisting them with a variety of tax and legal issues is very gratifying.

Evan is pleased to provide legal services to Lowcountry AIDS Services on a volunteer basis.

He and his wife, Sarah Ellen, live on James Island with their two small children.
